Proposition 8 that passed in California on November 4, 2008 would ban gay marriage. The most shocking thing about the passage of this ballot measure is that minorities overwhelmingly supported it (Blacks at about 70% and Hispanics at about 50%). WHY? Surely both of these groups understand what it is to be discriminated against? On an historic election night, as Barack Obama announced to the world that “change has come to America,” I couldn’t help but feel as though I was pushed into the closet one more time by my fellow citizens.

Michael Crichton – Author of bestsellers “Jurassic Park” and “The Firm” and creator of “ER” died this week from complications due to cancer. He was a son of the gulf coast, lawyer and writer. He will be missed.
